TOPIC: LIGHT UP: MISSION
MEMORY VERSE: Mark 16:15 – “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.”
BIBLE TEXT: Isaiah 6:8
[8]Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.
Acts 1:8
[8]But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
LESSON AIM & OBJECTIVES: To explore the significance of mission, its biblical foundations, and our role as followers of Christ in fulfilling the Great Commission. Through the lesson, students should be able to:
1. Gain insight into the mandate, motivation and methods of mission work.
2. Actively engaging spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth.
3. Identify the need for mission
4. Understand our role in mission
5. Identify the qualification of a missionary

INTRODUCTION: Mission is one of the most important natures of the Almighty God. The word mission is derived from a latin word “Mitto” meaning to send “. The greek word for mission is Apostello. From the above word we can describe a missionary as someone sent with a commission from a higher authority.
Mission is an organized effort to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to all nation of the earth Matthew 28: 19. It involves sending an individual or groups called missionaries, across boundaries geographically to carry out the work of evangelism or other activities such as educational services or medical services etc.

A. WHY IS MISSION NECESSARY?
1. It is not the will of God for any man to go to hell 2nd Peter 3:9
2. People can’t be saved unless they hear the gospel and the gospel cannot get to them except missionaries are sent Romans 10:14-15.
3. Jesus Christ was sent by God to seek and save those who were lost Matthew 18:11-14
4. The gospel of the kingdom must be preached to all nations before the end of the world comes.
5. Our primary assignment as believers is to reconcile men back to God 2nd Cor. 5:18-20.
B. UNDERSTANDING OUR ROLES IN MISSION
As young people, there are many roles that we can play in mission work.
These include:
i. Going with missionaries to assist them during holiday.
ii. Praying for missionaries and unreached communities.
iii. Sending materials and financial support to the mission field.
iv. Preaching the gospel online to those that cannot be reached physically using social media platforms.
C. QUALIFICATION OF A MISSIONARY
1. You must be born again John 3: 3-5
2. You must be filled by the Holy Spirit Acts 1:8
3. You must live a Holy life Romans 12:1
4. You must be willing to go to where ever you are sent to go Isaiah 6:8
5. You must be ready endure hardship as a good soldier of Christ 2 Timothy 2: 3, 10
6. You must study and meditate on the word of God daily Joshua 1:8 2 Timothy 2: 15.
SUMMARY: Mission work is a clarion call to every believer whose focus is heaven. As followers of Christ, we are called to ombrace the mandate, motivation, and methods of mission outlined in scripture. Through prayer, obedience, and reliance on the Holy Spirit, we can actively participate in fulfilling the great commission, sharing the life-transforming message of the gospel with people of every nation, tribe, and tongue.
CONCLUSION: God is seeking for a man who would go for Him. Isaiah 6:8 while you make yourself available? Ultimately, mission seeks to reconcile humanity to God, bring healing and restoration to broken lives and communities, and usher in the kingdom of God on earth. It is not limited to specific individuals or organizations but is the responsibility of every follower of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to be witnesses of God’s grace and truth to the ends of the earth.
